[Geoserver-users] WMS Dimensions supported

Hello,
Does anybody knows if WMS Dimensions, expecially time dimension (mapped
to postgresql date column), is supported by the current release of
GeoServer?

If so, where can I find some documentation on how to configure the feature?
Thanks,
regards,

Alan

Nope, GeoServer does not support time/elevation. Support on vector data
should not be that hard to add, but requires some knowledge of
the GeoServer internals.

If you really need it right now you can try to patch GeoServer yourself
(in this case join us on the devel list) or have some commercial support providers do it for you:
http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/Commercial+Support

As an alternative, you can use our custom CQL_FILTER parameter that
allows one to build basically every kind of filter on data you're
interested into. As an example, try to add &CQL_FILTER=PERSONS>10000000
on the topp:states map preview and you'll see how it works.
More examples of the CQL syntax here:

Ciao Alan,
notice that GeoServer is able to accept TIME as part of a WMS 1.1.1 request
but this has never been hooked up for vector data (like postgis
tables) but only for custom raster formats.

Notice also that as aaime correctly pointed out this is not too hard to support.

Ciao,
Simone.
