[Geoserver-users] WMS Rendering Interpolation broken in 1.7.5

Thanks Simone,
I will test, especially if I can get a war file.

Ciao Roger,
this issue with the interpolation is a known one, but I thought it was
not going to be more evident.
explaining quickly, in case you are interested, the new mosaic plugin
is much more powerful as it handle almost all the processing steps by
itself without delegating to the renderer or to the WCS.
The problem is that in the past there was no way to hook up the
interpolation at the geotools plugin level, therefore the mosaic
plugin is working only with Nearest neighbor interpolation. This is
not a tremendous problem if you have overwiews but it becomes a
problem if you don't have them. Anyway, I should be able to write that
up real quickly, I am going to do that today, I willprobably ask you
to test the result with tonight's build.

Simone.

Morning again,

While I was playing around with the imaging and versions, I noticed
something odd, apparently the "Interpolation" setting under WMS|Rendering is
broken in 1.7.5. In 1.7.3, as you zoom way into an (mosaicked) image, pixels
are blurred instead of sharp pixelation if you use Bilinear or Bicubic WMS
interpolation, just what we want. However, this doesn't occur in 1.7.5, and
pixelation is very evident.

So, I guess for the moment we'll stick with 1.7.3

Simone,

Yes it does, 7 levels. By the way, interpolation makes the overviews look much better as well, so it is not just for pixelation when zoomed way in, but at all times.

Ciao Simone,
Yes, interpolation now works at all zoom levels in latest nightly.

Thank you!

I think I understood the issue, but I am trying to figure out an
approach that would be generic enough.
I just need to know if your mosaic does have overviews or not.

1.7.3, everything the same:

Ciao Roger,
I have been playing a bit with interpolation settings for the new
mosaic plugin.

I have a question for you, can you please detail a bit further what's
your use case(s), I mean, the problematic one, in term sof data
characteristics.

Ciao Roger,
this issue with the interpolation is a known one, but I thought it was
not going to be more evident.
explaining quickly, in case you are interested, the new mosaic plugin
is much more powerful as it handle almost all the processing steps by
itself without delegating to the renderer or to the WCS.

While I was playing around with the imaging and versions, I noticed
something odd, apparently the "Interpolation" setting under
WMS|Rendering is
broken in 1.7.5. In 1.7.3, as you zoom way into an (mosaicked) image,
pixels
are blurred instead of sharp pixelation if you use Bilinear or Bicubic
WMS
interpolation, just what we want. However, this doesn't occur in
1.7.5,
and
pixelation is very evident.

So, I guess for the moment we'll stick with 1.7.3
