[Geoserver-users] WMTS tiles not create in empty places

Hello to all

Is it possible to force the WMTS tile routine to not create tile files for those places where no feature exist there?

We want to make WMTS tiles for our cities which are spread in the country. We wish it be possible to build tile files just for cities area, and not for whole country. In this way the amount of our files will be reduced and we will be able to make tiles for more resolution levels.

Thanks for your time.
Best regards

Hi
You should try to use the seeding function of geowebcache which allow to add a bbox as a parameter.

Then you need to call the function for each major city.

Hi, there’s a little used and poorly documented feature in GWC called a “Request Filter” which which can be used for this.

There’s some documentation about it included in the Schema file for the configuration file: http://geowebcache.org/schema/1.5.3/geowebcache.xsd It’s not the greatest documentation ever, but it should be enough to get you operational.
