Getting GRASS 4.1

goooood question. Can someone in-the-know offer comments? Have these
been burned yet? Do they include the update? When should I expect them
available?

I am perhaps not the most qualified to answer this question, but I am
familiar with what's going on. The short answer is, the CDROM should
be available soon. It was delayed from the release date of 4.1 itself,
in order to provide (tested!) binary/executable versions of GRASS for
several different hardware platforms. In addition, OGF wanted to
include the latest updates, since a number of those related to
specific platforms which were on the disk. Finally, there was a fair
amount of confusion about supported CDROM formats on various platforms
(ISO 9660, RockRidge, UFS...). Therefore a draft CDROM was produced
in early August and circulated to some key sites for testing. With
minor modifications, the testing proved successful, so the final
source and binary versions were readied for production, include update
package #2, just this last week. It should be going to press within a
week or two. I'm not sure how long it takes 3M to turn around a
production run, but as soon as they are ready, all attendees at the 93
conference will receive a copy. You can order them directly from OGF
as well (cashman@crsa.bu.edu).

Also, what about proceedings from previous GRASS users' mtg?

There were no proceedings from the 93 conference, but the conference
program included abstracts and contact points for almost all the
presentations. If you are interested in seeing proceedings for 94,
voice your opinions to OGF, or you can mail me directly and I will
scope out everyone's interests.
