Salve,
stavo cercando di installare e quindi dare un'occhiata a gvSIG, ma una volta conclusa l'installazione all'avvio del programma mi si visualizza un errore:

Console d'informazione:
descrizione
java.langNull.PointerExceptions:colors cannot be null

Se clicco su accetta, non mi scompare questo messaggio...come se fosse in loop..

Oh mamma, dallo stack trace sembra che il tuo java runtime abbia visto giorni migliori. Prova a reinstallarlo, e se sei sotto Linux, verifica che non ci sia in giro la versione gnu del java runtime, pochi programmi
funzionano con quella (in ogni caso, è di una lentezza agghiacciante).

Se hai la possibilità di scegliere, vai sul java runtime 6.0 update1

Dallo stacktrace mi viene da dire che lavori sotto windows
gvsig funziona solo con jre1.4.2...mi confermi che sia stata
selezionata una jre del genere?
Per poterti dare una mano avrei bisogno di sapere quale pacchetto hai scaricato
se ti ha trovato una jre o se te ne ha installata una lui.

Frena frena. Compilare con 1.4.2 significa che il software va con qualunque jre al di sopra di 1.4.2.
Ora, in effetti nella 1.6.0 hanno cambiato l'ordine di iterazione
su collezioni non ordinate, ma è abbastanza raro che questo causi
problemi (succede se il codice dava per scontato un certo ordine
di iterazione quando la documentazione dice esplicitamente di
non assumere alcun ordine).

Nello specifico di Geoserver, noi dicevamo che il requisito minimo
era 1.4 e la gente usava quello... pagando una penalità prestazionale
tra il 30 e il 50% in varie operazioni.
Se non ci sono noie (rare), 1.6.0 è _molto_ più veloce di 1.4.2,
non è il caso di fustigarsi con un jre vecchio...

problemi con la 1.5...per questo sono partito a razzo sulla questione

Frena frena. Compilare con 1.4.2 significa che il software va con
qualunque jre al di sopra di 1.4.2.

su collezioni non ordinate, ma è abbastanza raro che questo causi
problemi (succede se il codice dava per scontato un certo ordine
di iterazione quando la documentazione dice esplicitamente di
non assumere alcun ordine).

Nello specifico di Geoserver, noi dicevamo che il requisito minimo
era 1.4 e la gente usava quello... pagando una penalità prestazionale
tra il 30 e il 50% in varie operazioni.
Se non ci sono noie (rare), 1.6.0 è _molto_ più veloce di 1.4.2,
non è il caso di fustigarsi con un jre vecchio...

Sarebbe utile scrivere un tutorial un po’ più chiaro per l’installazione del necessario (senza farlo fare automaticamente a gvSIG), con relativa gestione di path, variabili d’ambiente, ecc., che vengono cercate da gvSIG… Che ne dite? C’è qualcuno con sufficiente esperienza per farlo? Io mi offro come cavia…

Vedo che cosa posso fare...anche se avrei qualcosa da ridire sul
"senza farlo fare a gvsig" nel senso che il pacchetto di
installazione, secondo me, dovrebbe essere in grado di funzionare
anche se una persona nn sa cosa sia java, poi ovvimente sapere cosa il
pacchetto di installazione fa permette agli utenti + avanzati di
modificare le impostazioni a mano e governare meglio il processo di
installazione.

Hai perfettamente ragione Simone, però il mio caso credo valga anche per altri: ho già una jre “ultimo modello” installata, compresa di jai, ecc… Lancio l’installatore gvSIG (quello senza l’installazione della jre) e mi dice che non trova jai, ecc… Provo ad impostare tutte le variabili d’ambiente che posso e continua a non andare… Riinstallo la vecchia versione della jre e relative estensioni… e tutto funziona. Dovrei provare a disinstallare e riinstallare altre volte per capire meglio cosa succede, però una guida più sicura farebbe comodo :slight_smile:

Concordo appieno con l'analisi fatta da Simone. Se gli sviluppatori di
gvSIG allo stato attuale consigliano la JRE 1.4.2 ci sarà un perchè...
Con la release di gvSIG 1.1 in futuro si potrà disporre di una JRE più
performante sperando che prima o poi si raggiunga una sorta di
allineamento delle versioni della JRE. Il consiglio è quello di
installare gvSIG "Con pre-requisitos de instalación", ossia con JRE.
Personalmente, lo feci con la 1.0 e da allora ho solo fatto gli update
(sia su Ubuntu Dapper che su XP) senza avere alcun problema.
Naturalmente, diverse sono le esigenze di chi sviluppa altro con Java ed
ha bisogno delle ultime versioni.
