gvSIG is free and open source (GNU/GPL) desktop GIS strongly oriented
towards the Spatial Data Infraestructures (SDI).
It works with the most common GIS and CAD file formats both vector (shp,
dgn, dxf, dwg, gml, etc.) and raster (ecw, mrsid, tiff, img, jpg2000,
etc.) and furhermore it’s able to connect with all kind geodata through
remote services like WMS, WFS, WCS, JDBC (geodatabases). Catalogue and

gvSIG 1.0 is on final phase of development and gvSIG 1.0 RC2 is the
latest version released.

(postGIS).

about JNI: doen’t need a real explanation. If one needs to compile gvSIG
from JNI sources, one knows what they server for.
