[Gfoss] "Why GeoRSS is effective in sharing timely Location Based Information"

Subject: [georss] Interesting Stats on GeoRSS usage at Live maps

I posted this to our blog today with some stats on recent geoRSS usage:
http://virtualearth.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2BBC66E99FDCDB98!9495.entry

Interactive views of Collections still far outweigh consumption via GeoRSS for the same content (millions vs. thousands) but for many datasets GeoRSS is seeing a big uptake. This Collection tracking SoCal fire activity is a good example; people want timely access to information. They want it delivered to their desktop. 1000’s of Savvy viewers that want to be kept up to date on activity and have subscribed to this GeoRSS feed. I suspect most are plugging the feed into non geo-aware readers.
