GMT vs. MAPGEN w/ GRASS

What the hell is GMT, is it public domain, and if so, where can I get
it?

Ronald Wiemer

Hello,

Is anyone doing cartographic output from GRASS using GMT?

I have been told that GMT is easier to use than Mapgen and
produces equally high-quality output.

Why the GRASS connection to Mapgen? I have not had any luck
compiling the GRASS Mapgen distribution on my SGI Indigo2.
GMT compiles and runs fine, so I was going to invest my
cartographic output effort in GMT.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom regarding this?

Thanks,
-Steve
