Graphics Monitor Problem

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed the grass binary for Solaris on my
Sparc 5 and get the following error when I try to start a monitor. Can someone tell me what the
trouble is?

X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
  Major opcode of failed request:  78 (X_CreateColormap)
  Serial number of failed request:  269
  Current serial number in output stream:  270
Please start graphics monitor <x0>.
Error - Graphics monitor <x0> not running!
Problem selecting x0. Will try once more

Did you create a monitorcap file, and did your setup create the nodes for
fifo.1a etc in the correct directory? I got errors like this when I failed
to do these two things from a source install under Linux.

Yes, I have a monitorcap file and the fifo.1a and others are in the gbase/dev directory.
The error seems to indicate some kind of color map problem.

for the X_CreateColormap please check the FAQ:

  http://www.geog.uni-hannover.de/grass/grass_faq.html
  -> d.mon problems: X Error 78 (X_CreateColormap).

It is related to the XDRIVER you are using and the color depth
(8bit/24bit).

Dear all,

i find the X graphic monitor have
terrible radiometric resolution.

Can anyone help me improve this.
I also have tried X24 driver.
