I just finished with some problems starting graphics monitors with d.mon
commands on a new installation here in Idaho. Sometimes the error message
received gives the best clue as to where the problem lies. I found that I
needed to edit the $HOME/etc/monitorcap file to show the location of the
proper driver files. GRASS was loaded with the default location of the
files, which turned out not to even be directories on the system. I'm sure
you've checked to see if the monitor is connected properly so it might just
be that monitorcap file. If you continue to have problems, or don't get the
right response posted, give me a call at 208-334-1525. Good luck !!!
