it works just fine for me. Probably you need to do
a full recompile (make distclean)?
v.net input=roads output=myroads2
d.vect myroads2
d.path myroads2
# works.
Note that there is a map 'roads_net' in the recent Spearfish
packages, which was already made by v.net.
