Hi,
It seems that the length of the scale is hardcoded in d.barscale. Is there a particular reason for this ?
It would be great to be able to give length in units and number of segments (as in the "scalebar" command in ps.map).

Did this post from a while back prompt anyone to change d.barscale?
I'm tempted to dive in and try and change it since the inability of
being able to give length means scalebars sometimes take up excessive
amounts of map real estate.
