Hello,

I found this new rescaling approach by Gardner et al. (2008) which keeps
the proportion of landcover types constant across various resolutions.

It would be nice to be implemented into GRASS and it is available under an
Open Source license.

Unfortunately the Open Software License that they use is highly
incompatible with GPL :frowning:

See http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/license-list.html for more info.

Then again nothing would stop some GRASS developer from reading the paper
and developing it based on it. :wink:

One willing to implement such algorithm in GRASS should NOT read their
source code to avoid possible code copying (creation of derivative work).
Still PDW page offers good documentation on it's working principles and
thus it should not be a big problem to implement such functionality in
GRASS.

I agree. I meant the paper titled: ''A new approach for the analysis of
multiple resolution landscape imagery.'' under the Publications heading.

Anyway I'm not able to tell where they have published their paper
describing the algorithm.
