The fact that temporal API also doesn't work probably has increasing
importance ([https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/grass-
dev/2016-September/082379.html GRASS-dev: Working with TGIS without
starting GRASS explicitly]). However, unlike PyGRASS it should be possible
to effectively replace most of the API calls by relevant temporal (t.*)
modules which wrap them.
