I just discovered that the cartographic composer will not create a preview
or output PDF in landscape (horizontal) mode. You can select landscape for
composing the map. But when you go to preview or output, it reverts to
profile (vertical) mode--cutting off map features.

FWIW, it seems like landscape mode should be the default for maps anyway.
But in any case, the preview and PDF output should respect the chosen
aspect dimensions and ratios.

Comment:

I can confirm this. Tested here with 76 relbranch and trunk r74471 in a
Fedora box. If I set the page to landscape, both the preview and output
pdf file are not landscape. Moreover the pdf must be rotated 90 degrees to
get a landscape map.
