Hello,
I think the map calculator could benefit from adding source code
highlighting (maybe using the BASH language).

By add this feature, the users can find missing brackets etc. easier.

Comment:

It would be actually beneficial if G7:r.mapcalc (and G7:r3.mapcalc, and
others?) would provide more meaningful messages and/or dry run (syntax
check) mode, so the user (and/or GUI) can get more feedback about the
expression. Perhaps different ticket, for me with higher priority than
this one.
