[GRASS-dev] GRASS-News to OSGeo-News?

Dear developers,

the issue of an OSGeo newsletter has been discussed on the Visibility
Committee (VisCom) ML of OSGeo. The GRASS-News staff contributed their
experience and supported the idea of such a newsletter/magazine.

Concerning a first OSGeo newsletter, the GRASS-News staff is in favour to move
GRASS-News vol. 4 to an OSGeo-News vol. 1 - this way GRASS can target a
broader audience without loosing its informative articles.

It has been discussed if the newsletter should be separated into sections,
hence there would be a GIS/RS section which GRASS could fill frequently, as
long as there are every couple of months enough submissions.

Of course the first volume is just for testing the acceptance of a
OSGeo-Newsletter and a lot of discussions have to follow. Please feel free to
contribute/volunteer.

If there are no objections, I would offer the VisCom that as a starting point
GRASS-News vol. 4 can be taken for OSGeo-News vol. 1

regards, Martin
