Hi
These 85 MB in svn-add-on repository seems not to be a nice idea....
maybe separate repository?

I agree. No clear idea about a better home though; keeping in SCM somewhere
seems like a good idea vs. serving directly from download.osgeo.org/grass.
Does bzip2'ing help? If not, maybe split off into a new grass-promo svn
parallel to grass-web and grass-addons?

We could just create a new svn directory called "marketing".

Yes (svn mv should be used then, right?).

With help of FrankW I have created a new repo "grass-promo":
svn co http://svn.osgeo.org/grass/grass-promo
It will contain:
- grassflyer/
- grassposter/
which I have tried to copy over with "svn copy" which bailed out with an error
message. Also "svn move" is unsupported.
I guess that I am missing the trick.

done in r42197 & r42198. I would suggest to move from grass-addons to
grass-promo also 'tutorials' and 'screenshots'.

I used to have the same problem moving from grass-addons to the main
tree on my laptop. Solution was to make sure both had the identical source
URL. in my case the initial SVN checkout for grass-addons was done read-only
http:// instead of https://, so URLs were different. Enough of an "ah-ha"
moment that IIRC I documented the fix on the trac wiki "how to SVN" page.
