[GRASS-dev] Metadata in GRASS

Hi,
to continue a long lasting discussion on metadata,

we discussed in the code sprint on that.

An idea is that on any new file created GRASS could copy an empty ISO metadata xml template

Some basic info could be gotten from the same functions behind r.info for example.

specialised functions (i.landsat.toar for example) could add sensor specific parameters in the xml.

Any suggestions please,

I think that would be a very good idea. In addition, in this xml file, a complete history of when
from which file by which command the layer was created.

Having that option would be great.

it's in my long term TODO, just there is always something more urgent
to do:-) I will probably start working on that in some weeks.
