[GRASS-dev] OpenDWG support in Windows

Hi List,

I’m refreshing the MSYS environment for GRASS, adding the following supports/libraries:

  • libjpeg
    not essential, but maybe useful

  • OGDI
to let users import VMAP0 formats

  • OpenSSL
to fix a bug related to pretected DB connection

  • AVCE00 and E00Compr Libraries
    the same of OGDI

  • FFMPEG
    to create animations with NVIZ

  • OpenDWG
I know that many people still use this format to create their maps; it would be an important enhancement to promote the GRASS migration

I looked for information on OpenDWG on http://www.opendwg.org but I actually didn’t find how to get the source. Could someone help me please?

Thanks,

Marco

It is not free and open source software, just freeware. Better avoid it.

Hi Paolo,

I think is more than useful

yes, actually for GRASS it is not essential, while for QGIS it is

It is not free and open source software, just freeware. Better avoid it.

gotcha! I supposed it was OS (because of the open in its name). I’m afraid it is not an open source format :frowning:

Thanks

Marco

Specifically, its licence is incompatible with the GPL, so you cannot
legally distribute binaries of v.in.dwg.

AFAICT, OpenDWG's licence is aimed at being "just free enough" to
suppress the creation of a genuinely free (libre) DWG library.
