Hello all,

let us warmly welcome the 22 accepted students for this round of GSoC!

We received over 30 proposals from a variety of geospatial projects,
and we accepted proposals from (in alphabetical order): GEOS, GRASS GIS,
gvSIG, istSOS, MapServer, Opticks, OSGeo4W, OpenStreetMap, OSSIM,
software packaging, pgRouting, QGIS and uDig/GeoTools.

The list includes OSGeo projects (official and incubating) and
like-minded projects such as OSM, pgRouting, uDig and istSOS - let GSoC
be a "gathering of tribes", an occasion to improve communication among
all geospatial open source initiatives.

See the full list of OSGeo students here:

We wish all students and mentors a great summer!

Three student project for GRASS this summer.
What a great outcome! To our GSoC students:
Welcome to the team, hope this will be a
great experience for you. To those who didn't
get accepted this time around: stay with us,
GSoC is not the only way of contributing and
having fun with GRASS GIS development. And
there's always another GSoC ...

Best,

Ben

Hi all,

2013/5/27 Benjamin Ducke <benducke@fastmail.fm>:

Three student project for GRASS this summer.

yeap, it's the great news! I have added accepted ideas to our wiki page [1].

What a great outcome! To our GSoC students:
Welcome to the team, hope this will be a
great experience for you. To those who didn't
get accepted this time around: stay with us,
GSoC is not the only way of contributing and

@wiki: backup mentors are missing: this information is not currently
available in mellange.

@accepted students: please create your project wiki page, see [1] and
project pages from the last year [2].

having fun with GRASS GIS development. And
there's always another GSoC ...

Hopefully this great program will continue. Congratulations to the
accepted students. And of course I wish good luck the students who
were not accepted for the next GSoC

Done. While on the topics of wikis, I'd mention it is a goal this
year to have the students' blogs regularly appear on the
planet.osgeo.org aggregator site.

Anna, Pietro: if you like, you might wish to sign yourselves up
as extra backup mentors for the interactive scatter plot project,
since Michael is already backup mentor for all projects and I
wouldn't like to stretch anyone too thin.

congrats to all, we were spoilt for choice this year, all
student submissions were good and worth considering.

best,
Hamish

OK, done. But I think Stepan won't need much help
