Dear OSGeo community,

It is time for *GSoC* [1] this year, so this is our starting information to get involved!

If you are willing to act as a mentor [2], fill in this form:

< [https://forms.gle/LACjb4x2DTCHvngK6](https://forms.gle/LACjb4x2DTCHvngK6) >

If you want to participate proposing ideas, you just need
to send us (admins: <gsoc-admin at [osgeo.org](http://osgeo.org/)>) the URL for your project's
ideas page.

Remember that every idea should indicate:

    • A title
    • A description
    • 2 mentors
    • A test for the students to submit to your evaluation. The test aims at evaluating if the student is capable for the project, so please design the test having in mind the skills required to complete the project.
Time is short, we need to collect all URLs by Feb 3. After that date,
Google's admins will start evaluating the organisations based on the
submitted ideas pages and decide which orgs will be accepted for this
edition.

Thanks for your cooperation!

```
Kind regards
OSGeo GSoC admins
Hi,
Would anybody be interested in proposing a GSoC project on a plotting / data visualisation framework for GRASS GIS and also be willing mentoring it?
I would be thinking of library functions (e.g. for use in Jupyter notebooks or GRASS modules), specific module(s) for generic data visualisation through different sorts of diagrams (violin plots, Sankey, …) from vector attribute table or one or more raster maps, or even interactive displays from attribute table or raster map(s)).
I could imagine to co-mentor as a more-than-averagely-interested user, but I feel the need for a really code-savvy main-mentor.
The project could provide useful experience for students, give GRASS more user-friendly functions/modules for data visualisation and should be manageable in the available time…
Cheers
Stefan
It could fit into the Jupyter Notebook GSoC Project that is already there. We wanted more streamlined functions for data rendering but interactive visualization using matplotlib and other libraries would fit well into it. Feel free to edit it there.
