Hello everyone.
I'm starting to be a GRASS programmer but one thing that really surprised me
is that such a big project isn't using any project management software.
Some time ago I was looking for such a tool and found great opensource project
Trac - http://trac.edgewall.org/ . Even there are a lot of features which
should has that kind of software I was really nicely surprised when get known
that Trac offers smart components architecture which makes easy to extend it.
So I become developer of five of them (ScreenshotsPlugin, DoxygenPlugin,
DiscussionPlugin, ...) which are placed on http://trac-hack.org with many
others.
Please consider this oportunity to make a good choice to speed up and clearify
GRASS development using this or some other project management software.
To explain what features Trac offers here is a simple list:
- All is written in Python with sqlite or PosgreSQL database backend and
Apache, FastCGI or even its own web server.
- Tickets (similar to bug reports) which can be assigned to any registered
developer and component with given priority and severity.
- Milestones which are made of tickets, whent tickets are performed
milestones' progres is rising.
- Easy extensible wiki with syntax highlighting.
- Subversion support with web-based source browsing (Subversion might be
problem).
- A lot of gorgeous plugins and macros. I can make any others of your neeeds.
Thank you for reading this e-mail,
