The new release of spgrass6, the package interfacing R and GRASS 6 and 7, includes changes in the way commands are handled. Users should continue to use their scripts unchanged, but internally on “unix” platforms (all but Windows), GRASS error messages are now trapped in R and will issue stop() or warning() calls, rather than simply being printed to console and not being “seen” by the R process. This involved substituting system2() for system() in the package code in a number of places. Please report directly to the maintainer if problems arise.
Thanks to Rainer Krug for ideas and help testing.
