Hi,
2011/7/22 Barton Michael <cmbarton@asu.edu>:
Map rendering in GRASS 6.4 and 6.5 svn recently broke. It is fine in GRASS
7. Whenever I try to load a map in the GUI, I get "ERROR: Rendering failed"
in the console output.
works for me. Please try `make distclean; svn up; configure; make` first...

Hi,
2011/7/22 Barton Michael <cmbarton@asu.edu>:
Problem solved.
I'd selected the cairo driver to test and it worked OK until I quit and restarted GRASS.
I guess no cairo for Mac GRASS 6.
install cairo lib and compile GRASS with --with-cairo switch. Anyway I
would suggest to use png driver in GRASS 6.

Hi,
2011/7/22 Barton Michael <cmbarton@asu.edu>:
Actually, I think I've got Cairo from William Kyngesburye's frameworks. Perhaps I need to change my configure string. Why not use Cairo in GRASS 6?
simply because png is well tested and working in GRASS6. Cairo is
quite new display driver which is mostly developed only in GRASS 7.

Hi,
2011/7/22 Barton Michael <cmbarton@asu.edu>:
More information. This break in the display system (at least for Mac) did not necessarily happen today. I've checked version numbers and it happened before the first time I recompiled today. This makes it more difficult to track down. The last good working version of 6.5 that I have is 46880 on 30 June.
could you try r47222 (GRASS 6.5)? The error message should also show
reason why rendering failed.
