[GRASS-dev] [release] GRASS 7.2.1RC2

Hi all,

based on roadmap published in ML [1] we could go out with RC2. There are no
blockers registered [2], so it is seems that we can slowly start
preparing RC2. Any objections?

While generally yes, we still lack the po files update from transifex…

The problem right now is the Portuguese translations files, mods an
libs po file return a lot of "invalid multibyte sequence"

You can try your self following the wiki instructions [0] (they were
there also during your visit :frowning: )

There is another problem, all the fuzzy strings had lost during the
import, you can read more here

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/transifex-updates/zICBvn-823o

So probably before merge we should decide what to do, I suggest a
translation sprint...

is it blocker for 7.2.1 release? In any case RC2 can be released
regardless of this issue, right? Ma

Fixed. The file simply needed to be converted to UTF-8 from ISO-8859-1
using iconv + editing of the header:

for i in `ls grass*_pt.po ` ; do iconv -f ISO-8859-1 -t UTF-8 $i >
dd.tmp ; \mv dd.tmp $i ; done

... then edit all three files for the header update of encoding.

No more "invalid multibyte sequence" errors.

Perhaps we should convert all .po files to UTF-8? This is not yet the case.

Additional observations:
- the transifex_merge.sh deletes all headers along with the translation authors
- it empties all "fuzzy" state messages.

Due to that I didn't merge yet the updated translations. I try to
understand where the header replacement with the generic gettext
header happens.

Done, both in trunk and relbranch72.

Additional observations:
- the transifex_merge.sh deletes all headers along with the translation authors

Fixed: I have implemented extra code in grass-addons/tools/transifex_merge.sh

- it empties all "fuzzy" state messages.

This discussion is from 2011:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/transifex-updates/zICBvn-823o

perhaps it became this:
https://docs.transifex.com/setup/translation-memory

However, I'll prepare RC2 now.

Binary packages to be prepared... hoping that this is the last RC,
let's also draft the release notes:

Should the demolocation include a .bash_history & .bashrc?
It seems to be leaking your (neteler) environment.

Please note that zesty is not an LTS release, and won't be supported by
UbuntuGIS. None of the other packages will be available for it.

update: UbuntuGIS should maintain only packages for LTS Ubuntu
releases. So you will find in Expr/Unstable PPA GRASS packages only
for trusty and xenial. For other Ubuntu releases will be used our
GRASS Stable PPA repo [1]. I changed website accordingly [2]. Ma
