[GRASS-dev] [release planning] 7.4.1

Hi devs,

according to our roadmap [1] it is time to prepare 7.4.1RC1:

Time schedule:

Proposal of release: ~14 Mar
Soft freeze of release branch: ~23 Mar
RC1: ~23 Apr <<-- we are here
RC2: ~7 May
Final release: ~14 May

We have no blockers any more [2].

If there are no objections, I'll prepare RC1 in the next few days.

Markus

As daily winGRASS builds seems to be broken for some times now, it may be
needed to find a way to test the RCs.

I pushed build manually, seems to work [1]. Will see if new builds
appear tomorrow.

Hi,

If someone could have a look at #3546 (t.rast.what ), that would be splendid.

With introduction of the category flag (which is very useful) columns unfortunately get shifted in "col" output. So resulting CSV header has to be treated specially in later usage of the module output.

There is a fix in trunk, but it needs testing and maybe agreement / a second opinion regarding the proposed fix.
The provided fix keeps cat and x/y together using different identifiers.
Alternatively, only cat could be used (and coordinates could be dropped).

I would really like to get a fix into 7.4.1, as this module (and option) is used relatively frequently.

Once agreed on the most suitable fix, I can add that case to the test suit and update the manual as needed...

Cheers,
Stefan

FYI, I just backported a bugfix for v.out.ogr in r72694, avoiding duplicate fid’s which resulted in an incomplete export in some cases for some output formats, e.g. GPKG.

An important fix is v.out.ogr r72694: avoid duplicate fid’s which can cause incomplete exports.

The recent changes to v.select in trunk are not really a bugfix, but considering that v.select is now about 10x faster in some cases, it might qualify for backporting to 7.4RC2. Any opinion?

If there are no objections, I would like to backport fixes in https://trac.osgeo.org/grass/ticket/3546
before RC2 (can do that immediately).

Tests would probably need updating though?!

I haven't had the possibility to test, yet, but the slow speed could be considered a bug, and so if you are confident that the changes do not provoke any unforeseen consequences, I would be happy to go for an exception to our usual rule and say, yes please ! But IIUC RC2 has already been tagged, or ?

I tested the new v.select in various scenarios: it is much faster using extreme input combinations, otherwise processing speed is similar. Results are in various tests identical.
