Hi,
Status report #3 for week ending on 20th June, 2008.
1. What did you get done this week?
I started working on wxGUI Nviz integration (nviz2/wxpython). This
week I had not so much time, the progress is not so significant.
http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/browser/grass-addons/visualization/nviz2
2. What do you plan on doing next week?
I would like to finish initial prototype of 3d map display for wxGUI
(based on nviz_cmd module functionality).
3. Are you blocked on anything?
Not yet.
Regards, Martin Landa

Hi,
Status report #4 for week ending on 27th June, 2008.
1. What did you get done this week?
I have implemented *very limited* prototype of wxNviz (see [1]). Just
to load raster layers from layer tree and display them in the map
display (switching to OpenGL mode) as surfaces.
2. What do you plan on doing next week?
Currently rendering is very very slow (comparing to original TCL/TK
NVIZ). In the next week I am planning to improve it. I would like also
to implement surface-related features (setting attributes, drawing
mode, etc.)
When basic prototype is ready (should be for the middle-term
evaluation) I am planning to move the code from grass-addons to trunk
(GRASS 7) to make easier testing.
3. Are you blocked on anything?
Most of time I am straggling with TCL/TK Nviz and its debugging...

I would like to move the code from grass-addons [1] to trunk, if there
are no objections I will do it in the next days. It will make easier
testing in the future (at least for mid-term evaluation;-)

Hi,
2008/6/27 Martin Landa <landa.martin@gmail.com>:
Status report #5 for week ending on 4th July, 2008.
1. What did you get done this week?
Mainly I was working on wxGUI stuff, I fixed various bugs and added
initial support for vector data (currently only 2D lines) [1]. Short
summarization available at wiki-page [2].
2. What do you plan on doing next week?
To improve wxGUI extension, especially vector data support. I would
like also to implement support for saving data layer settings (for
current session or in a workspace).
When basic prototype is ready (should be for the middle-term
evaluation) I am planning to move the code from grass-addons to trunk
(GRASS 7) to make easier testing.
All the code has been moved to trunk (grass7)

Hi.
Status report #6 for week ending on 11th July, 2008.
1. What did you get done this week?
I was working on wxGUI Nviz extension (general settings). I also added
a few new tags ('nviz', 'attribute') to the workspace definition (gxw)
for storing Nviz-related layer properties (surface attributes).
2. What do you plan on doing next week?
I want to update gxw definition to cover all currently implemented
data layer properties (surface, draw mode, 2d vector lines). Then
update CLI nviz_cmd module and start implementing 2d vector points, 3d
vector features and to add support for volumes.
3. Are you blocked on anything?
Not really.

http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/Image:Wxnviz-alpha-2.png
2. What do you plan on doing next week?
To extend workspace definition to store Nviz vector layer properties
(lines, points). To add support for 3d vector data and start working
on volume support.
3. Are you blocked on anything?
No.

Hi,
Status report #10 for week ending on 8th August, 2008.
1. What did you get done this week?
Well, I was mainly working on volumetric data (3d rasters)
visualization support. The progress is a bit slower than I was
expecting, anyway here is the first (fresh) screenshot.
http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/Image:Wxnviz-alpha-4.png
2. What do you plan on doing next week?
To improve volume data support - isosurfaces mode and add slices mode.
Also to update workspace definition to store volume/isosurfaces/slices
properties. If I have enough time I would like also to implement some
basic scene settings (e.g. lights).
3. Are you blocked on anything?
Not really, just it's going to be a hot summer for me;-)
