As suggested in:

I have removed r.sum, r.average and r.median, as equivalent
functionality is available via r.statistics{,2,3}.

1. What about r.mode?

2. What about r.univar? Can this be made obsolete by extending
r.statistics{2,3}?

BTW, wiki links to mailing list threads invariably seem to point to
unrelated messages. Presumably the numbering has changed?

They got slightly reduced/enlarged (don't remember) when migrating the
list to osgeo. Shouldn't be hard to find back.
