[GRASS-dev] Where should the file python-wxversion be located?

All:

Where should the file python-wxversion be located so that GRASS 6.4.1 will find it? It's located on my Ubuntu 11.0.4 distribution at:

/usr/share/pyshared-data/python-wxversion

and contains this:

share/pyshared-data/python-wxversion
[python-package]
format = 1
python-version = 2.6, 2.7
[pycentral]
version = 0.6.11
include-links = 0
[files]
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/wxversion.py=f
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wxversion.py=f

I'm not sure if this helps you, but I have GRASS7 running on Ubuntu 11.04
and this is where python-wxversion is located on my machine.

justinjent@ubuntu:~$ locate wxversion
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/wxversion.py
/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/wxversion.pyc
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wxversion.py
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wxversion.pyc
/usr/share/doc/python-wxversion
/usr/share/doc/python-wxversion/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/python-wxversion/copyright
/usr/share/pyshared-data/python-wxversion
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python-wxversion.list
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python-wxversion.md5sums
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python-wxversion.postinst
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python-wxversion.preinst

  Problem resolved.

Thanks to all who responded; Justin your information helped a lot — after the suggestions and even more digging and some more installs using http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/Compile_and_Install_Ubuntu (which may have helped some in terms of my original problem of not getting wxpython to work for me), but definitely helped to get additional capability in my build.

In the end I had competing python installs: /usr/bin and /usr/local/bin — so, I deleted the /usr/local/bin install of python; wx-config was only present in /usr/bin

I strongly suggest new Umbutu GRASS users to follow http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/Compile_and_Install_Ubuntu
