[GRASS-dev] ZSTD error

Hi,

I can’t open colleague’s data, I am getting:

ZSTD compression error -2: Unknown frame descriptorError uncompressing fp raster data for row 24 of <chips_area_dem>: error code -1

r.compress -p:
<chips_area_dem> is compressed (method 5: ZSTD). Data type: FCELL
<chips_area_dem> has a compressed NULL file

Any idea what could be going on? He said it works ok on his Mac and Windows? I tried latest master and 78 with ZSTD compression on my side.

There was some issue with specific ZSTD lib version(s) if I recall correctly.

It may be an older version of the zstd library compiled on 7.6.0.

yes, there were some reports of zstd minor version (1.x vs 1.y) incompatibilities regarding GRASS ZSTD compression. Unfortunately, I could not find corresponding notes in the ZSTD documentation.
