Both yesterday and today I tried to run the nviz animations. They invoke
gxine/mplayer, then hang the display on my system. If I'm lucky, the
keyboard is not frozen and I can switch to a different console and kill X.
Otherwise, I need to ssh in from my notebook and kill X that way.

as in the in-program tape recorder controls, or saving a MPEG or
similar from the program, or when looking at the resulting MPEG
(or similar) from outside the program?
nviz should not be automatically trying to play any movies you
create.
