[GRASS-user] AdvancedViewshedAnalysis

Hi Becky,

if you want to have it super easy, download and install
gvSIG OADE 2010:

  http://www.oadigital.net/software/gvsigoade

When you run the installer, make sure to tick all available
extensions, so you get the SEXTANTE and GRASS geoprocessing tools.
Full instructions are here:

  ftp://88.208.250.116/gvSIG_OADE_Installation.pdf

A quickstart guide for gvSIG is also available:

  ftp://88.208.250.116/gvSIG_OADE_Quickstart.pdf

... but surely, someone at your department is already using gvSIG?

You can then run a large number of GRASS modules directly via
the SEXTANTE graphical user interface.

r.cva and r.promincence are already included.

Best,

Ben

Thanks for this - Hadn’t come across gvSIG before. No longer part of a department so slightly out of the loop.

Will give it a go.

Hi Becky,

The installation manual:

  ftp://88.208.250.116/gvSIG_OADE_Installation.pdf

has some details about setting up the software on the Mac.
See section "4":
If you have ticked the "GRASS GIS" option in the installer,
then the folder you need to specify is within the App folder
of gvSIG OADE 2010 on your Mac: "Contents/Resources/grass".

If you are using a Mac, you should definitely read through
the Mac specific section of the PDF manual above and
also the Mac section on the support page here:

  http://www.oadigital.net/software/gvsigoade/gvsigbugs

This version of gvSIG has been developed to run on Mac OS X
Snow Leopard and Intel hardware. Anything older than that
will probably require some extra fiddling to make it work.

Best,

Ben

Thanks for both your suggestions. However, copying ‘/Applications/gvsig-oade-2010-1.0.0/gvSIG-OADE-2010.app/Contents/Resources/grass’ still does not work.

Will email gvSIG & Sextante lists as suggested.
