[GRASS-user] Convert Landsat temperature into Kelvin

Hi,

is there an algorithm, which converts Landsat band 61 temperature data into Kelvin ? I tried to approach this problem by establishing a relationship between MODIS data and Landsat, but i did not work out.

Regards

Niels

Hi,

thanks, it worked fine after the Landsat handbook.

I'm not sure what you mean, but have you converted your DN into randiance and then into temperature using the steps outlined in <http://landsathandbook.gsfc.nasa.gov/handbook/handbook_htmls/chapter11/chapter11.html#section11.3.3>? This gives you TOA radiance, which you then need to convert into ground radiance. From there, and using Planck's function, you convert it to surface temperature. The tricky bit is to conver the TOA into BOA radiances, which requires you to do a bit of atmospheric characterisation/correction.

Hope that helps,
Jose
