[GRASS-user] extract polygon from raster

Imagine I have a raster image with a colored area. I want to obtain a polygon describing the limits of it.
In particular, my case is the following : I have an aerial photo of a fire (georeferenced jpeg, so raster format) and I want to obtain the limits of the fire area.

Does grass allow me to do such task ? And how ?
