[GRASS-user] Finding Landsat's infrared bands

Hi all,

I downloaded some Landsat data from the USGS. When I opened the GeoTiff in GRASS using r.in.gdal, I got the Blue, Green and Red bands. How do I get the near infrared, two medium infrared, thermal, and panchromatic bands.

I am using GRASS 6.4 RC6 on OS X.

They are commonly in a separate file.

Just an update. I looked on the USGS Seamless Map Server about the Landsat's bands. What I found is they only include three bands in their GEOTiff. The near infrared translates as red, red as green, and green as blue.

Now we know.

I think that what you got was their "mosaic" product, which is a prepared mix of three bands.
You can get the base landsat imagery, all 7 separate bands, as greyscale tiff files from here:

Now we know.
