[GRASS-user] GRASS GIS for geological maps

Does anybody know of any geological map published (i mean research article or so...) using grass gis (or others open-source softwares)???
What about using grass for publish a professiononal geological map?? anybody have used grass for this?? what other software could i use for a nice graphical output?? (maybe GMT <-- there are any geologist that have used this set of tools for a geological map??)

I would like to obtain a 3d model from a geological map!! Anybody have done this?? Is it possible?? Any suggestion??

It is possible to create a 3d geological modell from geological map using GRASS but it is laborious work.
to create a modell i attached, i used DEM, geological map and information about unit thickness.

I use GRASS to creating geological maps (only digital versions), if i want to make hard copy i export .shp
and open Esri ArcMap…
