Hello everyone,
I need to use hec-ras integrated with gis software to analize flooding risk over a wide populated area. This is possible in a quiet easy way using geo-ras, a free extension for ArcGIS, but I need to use grass. Does anyone of you have experience in integrating hec-ras with grass, or know the existence of similar plugins?

Hello,
I'm very interested by this type of utility. Maybe the USGS free
software FEQ/FEQUTL can be integrated with GRASS ?
Other water simulation features like an integration of EPANET and EPA
SWMM could be really great too.

Sure it would be great to get some how rid of arcview in order to use all these utilities under grass; those applications are countless, extremely used in everyday production and quite powerful (e.g. hec-ras, hec-hms, swat, kineros,swwm, basins etc...). In case you need an hydrological model, besided topmodel, there is TOPOG from CSIRO which runs under unix. Finally, AFAIK there is an addons for grass to use MODFLOW. Maybe the authors can give some suggestions for you...
