[GRASS-user] grass promotion

Hi,

some of us would like a t-shirt with GRASS logo. Anybody can make
his/her own label and let it print.

I think, there should be kind of template, which could be
downloaded by anybody, who would like to have such kind of t-shirt.

I have prepared such template for those, who would like something
unified.

http://les-ejk.cz/tmp/grass-tshirt-back.svg
http://les-ejk.cz/tmp/grass-tshirt-front.png
http://les-ejk.cz/tmp/grass-tshirt-front.svg

There is one mm thick wite line around all lines, so that one could
print it on any type of color.

Looking forward to your comments/improvements (i'm no graphic designer).

Hello Jachym,

a couple of months ago I played around with an internet shop (spreadshirt,
cafepress) for GRASS promotion, however due to the uncertain foundation
structure in this times (what to do with money) I did not set the shop up
properly and abandoned it (perhaps it still works, I have to try).

I would highly appreciate a GRASS promotion shop and perhaps it would be a
good idea to join the cafepress/OSGeo discussion on the VisCom ML.
Nevertheless it has to be clarified who is in charge of the money (I saw a
few mails about committee election or so but did not go deeper into it, if
these persons are eligible to handle the money, we could go forward.)

P.S.: for coloured background t-shirts we would need vector graphics

Hi Martin,

the easiest thing could be to assign the money to the German GRASS Association
(GAV - Anwender-Vereinigung e.V., http://www.grass-verein.de/) which
is a registered, tax-exempt charity to support GRASS users.

For the time being it could be GAV Germany or individual people
or maybe OSGeo (the 501(c)(3) status is still pending since it is
a lot of paperword).

it is still working and I uploaded the vector graphics (takes one day to be
verified) - Jachym if you want to login and add some motives/t-shirts etc.
please contact me offlist.

ok, if thats fine with everybody I will add the GAV bank account for the
european (EURO zone) shop. It does not mean that the shop if online and
people can buy stuff, this can be decided later on.

OSGeo is also going cafepress now:
http://www.cafepress.com/OSGeo

we could set up a http://www.cafepress.com/GRASS for North-America because you
have to pay shipping costs if you live in Europe or elsewhere.

hi, I have made this change and uploaded to my server:

I will bring this topic up on the GAV-list and come back to you soon.

From my point of view it is OK, but I will recheck with other

GAV-members.

I think the old green "GRASS GIS" text is somewhat ugly these days. The
font used in grass-tshirt-big looks fine, but it seems like line space
for the motto is too small.

I would like to get one for myself. Do you have any plan to sell these
t-shirts online?

For printing, at least for the US I've had good luck with:

http://www.getinprint.com/

Large variety of merchandise to print on. Their thermal printing doesn't fade or crack like traditional screen printing and supports full-color printing. Reasonable prices and small quantities (ie 1 or 2) accepted.

It's not clear if they ship outside the US or not.

Theory of the Universe

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarrely inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I would like to get one for myself. Do you have any plan to sell these
t-shirts online?

no, and it was not in my plane to sell the t-shirts. I just wanted to
setup something, what the comunity would like as *the* grass t-shirt
motive. or at least to start discussion about it

i'll try to prepare the different version with helvetica font and see

my girlfriend allready made me some grass t-shirt by hand. i'll present
it in lausanne

thanks for feedback

cheers

If the images are downloadable, then you can design & order them online using www.cafepress.com.

Hi guys,
OSGeo has just started a cafepress store.. perhaps in the future we can showcase shirts for other open source geo. projects like GRASS. We're still polishing this up before launching it:

Hi,
I have updated the patterns and made some pictures, so one could
imagine, how it could look like.

I used free serif font, the font color is grass-green. I would say, that
the black font does not look better.

looking forward to your comments
