[GRASS-user] GRASS "shell" plugin + GRASS "Add-ons" in QGIS

Good Morning

Sorry for the naivety, but I appreciate any good answers:

  • is “GRASS SHELL” in the plugin, in QGIS, usable with double click? Is he supposed to let you write right?

imagem.png

  • is it possible to use the GRASS “Add-ons” previously installed by “GRASS GIS” through the QGIS plugin?

Thanks

Cumprimentos,

Yes, I think so.

The shell should give you your OS native GRASS command line.

Could you try out and report back?

Hello Valter,

It works here with a single click. It just opens a new tab there with a terminal (bash shell in my case). You first need to open a location and mapset with the GRASS Plugin to get it activated, but I think you did, right?

What operative system do you use?

Dear Valter

AFAIK, the GRASS shell in QGIS plugin doesnt work in Windows. Somebody please correct me, if I am wrong. Also r.mask doesn’t work if you use grass7 plugin in QGIS.

As you are using Windows 10, best solution to get the complete command line functionalities (as in linux) of GRASS GIS is to follow “Linux Bash Shell on Windows 10” (https://itsfoss.com/install-bash-on-windows/), which is in-built app with windows 10, you have the option to install Ubuntu, Suse linux etc.

Then you can install GRASS GIS and QGIS in the Linux environment in windows 10 and then this plugin works well. You may need a X server installed to make gui’s work in the Linux environment like xming (https://sourceforge.net/projects/xming/ )

Regards

Sajid

Hi Sajid,

OK, thank you.

AFAIK that's a QGIS decision to represent "r.mask" as two modules with
focus on *either* raster *or* vector. Their rationale: keep it super
simple. Maybe sometimes too much

Hi Valter,

Well, just let them know that the bug is still there and provide all your system information (e.g., operative system, grass version, GDAL version, python version, QGIS version, from where you installed and such).

Maybe they just forgot about the bug, so ping there as a kind reminder
