I have the feeling that I had this working before, but it might have been in my dreams: I have a series of maps (not a space-time data set) that I want to display in an animation and for every map that is displayed during the animation I would like to see the name of that map displayed during the time the map is displayed.
Is that possible ?

Just a dream, I am afraid, but I definitely plan to do it sometime...

As long as GRASS continues to make us dream, everything's fine !

Perhaps the dream refers to the Animation window tool in tcltk GUI of GRASS6.4 (see attachment)?
