[GRASS-user] Importing ESRI shape files

I am new in Grass GIS. I am learning Windows native GRASS 6.3 .

I will be very grateful if any one could tell me in brief how i could
import SHAPE files into
GRASS and convert it into GRASS data.

with the v.in.ogr module, for from the menu: File->Import vector map ->
multiple formats using OGR.
