is there a possibility to import stellite photos directly from GoogleEarth or WorldWind so that they are georeferenced ? I know about importing the satellite picture saved from GoogleEarth and the georeferencing it myself, but I would like to avoid that step.
I suspect what you want to do may not be permitted under the Google Earth license.
If you want to get to the actual data or georeferenced imagery then it might be worth looking at getting it directly from the data supplier. I am not sure if Google Earth Enterprise let’s you get to the data but you may want to check. GE Enterprise however comes with fat price tag.

That's one of the reasons why I am asking - I know that ArcView 9 has the facility to do exactly that (but I assume that they have paid for it!).
What about WorldWind? ( http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ )
It os open source and I don't think there would be a licensing problem if a module would be available in GRASS, which uses the WorldWind data sources to download a georeferenced satellite image of a selected area.

The r.in.onearth module (from the wiki addons site) is much simpler to use than
r.in.wms but is hardcoded to only talk to NASA's OnEarth server. (which is
fairly overloaded these days, so be kind to it)

try r.in.wms
Thanks for pointing it out. I started playing with it, and it seems to be quite good!

I think that should be put into the wiki under "How to get Google Earth images" - I know many people who are looking for a possibility to do that.
Thanks a lot
