[GRASS-user] Installing R under cygwin

Hello to all,
I am trying to install the R environment to grass6.2 running under cygwin. I have downloaded the spgrass6 package from http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/spgrass6/index.html but I do not have a clue what to do with it next.
Can pls anyone help with some good instruction what to do??

Hi Jan,
Why do you want R under Cygwin? You simply need R to be installed
under Windows. Cygwin shell "talks" with R windows version.

- So, first install R under Windows.

- Run Cygwin, run grass. It will open an XWindow, but don't use it.
Go back to your cygwin window and run R. It will invoke R installed on Windows.

- So, if you have spgrass6 installed on your Windows R version, you
can load it from cygwin, with "library(spgrass6)", and you're
ready to interface with Grass.
To try if it runs well, type gmeta6(). It will print the metadata
infos about Grass (region, mapset, etc.)

I have tested GRASS 6.3RC5 on windows. I was able to run grass with

grass63.bat --text

then I could start gis.m and run R like

"c:\Program Files\R\R-2.6.2\bin\R.exe"

it is truth, that I did not install spgrass6, but it looks like usable
approach
