There is a location setup option for plain old X,Y coordinates, that are an undefined system.

If you dont want to deal with projections you can create a location that is x,y based, without a projection.
If you have know what projection the data is in, and you have the appropriate location setup, then you can use the -o (override) parameter to import regardless of the imported data’s projection file or conflict stated upon import.
