Dear GRASS GIS users:
We seek a Post-Doctoral Researcher to participate in an NASA funded project. The project aims to develop a system integration solution by infusing NASA satellite data through a data assimilation framework using NASA/NOAA hydrological models to improve NOAA National Weather Service’s real-time operational hydrologic forecasting skills, and to enhance the capabilities and performance of NWS AWIPS sub-DSS and NWSRFS for hydrological predictions. Applicants are sought with expertise in hydrological modeling, NOAA NWS AWIPS sub-DSS and NWSRFS, data integration. Strong background in statistics and data analysis is desirable. Applicants should also have excellent written and oral communication skills and should have completed a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. GRASS GIS skills are considered essential. The selected applicant will join an interdisciplinary team involving researchers from multi-institutions. The initial appointment will be for one year with possible renewal for two additional years based on performance.
The PostDoc position will be located at National Weather Service, Ohio River Forecast Center located in Wilmington, Ohio (USA), which is situated about equidistant from Columbus, Ohio and Cincinnati, Ohio.
