[GRASS-user] New user grass help in Australia

Hi Group,
I’ve been plugging away with grass for a few months now and not making progress as fast as I would like. Is there a user group (preferably in Melbourne though Adelaide is doable) or someone who would be able to sit down with me for an hour or two to help me through a few startup problems. Even having someone on chat (I haven’t had much luck on the grass irc channel, maybe because of the time difference?) walk me through a few “push this button” steps would be useful.

Thanks
Matt

If all are physically to remote, consider to post here.

The GRASS IRC channel
  http://grass.itc.it/community/support.php#irc
isn't too crowded, the mailing lists are usually a good place to ask.

If you can get hold of the GRASS bible by Markus and Helena:

http://www.grassbook.org/

You're on your way to become a great grass user.

I’ve just downloaded my copy of GRASS (last night) and found this link:

http://grass.itc.it/intro/firsttime.php

very helpful. Yes, the GRASS-Bible is great, too. I’ve been reading this list while waiting for my copy. I hope you can find it in Oz-land.

It is also useful to know that if you work somewhere with access to Springer academic journals (e.g. a university), you can download the GRASS book under their subscription:

Cheers

Yes the GRASS book is very good.

I got mine from www.booktopia.com.au took a couple of weeks to get it, even then it was bound upside down and back to front. Still a very good book.
