Hi list!
Been away for quite some time (busy, injured, etc.).
Tomorrow and Saturday will take place the GeoDataCamp2010 in Athens (Greece).
I will be there to learn lots of new stuff and I am enthusiastic about it. I
feel it is going to be a fruitful gathering of friends and people curious
about GeoData.
I won't loose the opportunity to show-off some grass(y) actions and play with
the new GUI maybe (btw, the "command console" and the "search module" are cool
-- nothing like qgis though :-p which will be honored of course as well)
Perhaps, if we have the time to practice, I (we) will ask the list's
attention. The community is vital to (G)FOSS and I can think of no better
prove of that than having (near-real-time?) interaction with other grass-users
through the list (as it often happens to me when I try to introduce starters
to grass and the like :-)).
Just wanted to share my excitement about it.
Adventurous (Greek) greetings, Nikos

Indeed, many gfoss friends where there to meet and discuss with them. Not much
time to actually learn something of course...
A lot of tension, many voluntary-based works were presented.

I've talked with a couple of folks about GRASS. I have to admit I discouraged
some people who just wanted to throw a map or two together. I redirected them
to QGIS of course.

Well, we did not had the time to dive deep. But we had some extended
discussions and on-display explanations about GRASS' data base and basic
modules.
Was nice - real fun :-). Hope something like this will be repeated in Greece
and the signals are there.
Cheers, Nikos
