[GRASS-user] Off-Topic: Is there a database with historic (rough) precipitation/ temperature data on (daily?) weekly basis for Europe?

I need to check the weather conditions for specific dates over an area
in Greece. Are there any rough data? Or, even better, anything
satellite-derived?

By rough I mean both the spatial and the temporal scale.

Thank you in advance,

Nikos

Nikos,

you may check
European Climate Assessment & Dataset (ECA&D)
http://eca.knmi.nl/
for daily historical climate data of Europe.

Myself, I am working on reconstructing time series from MODIS LST
data... coming soon  I am doing that on a cluster since it still needs
heavy computational resources.

Great! That's what I was looking for ;D

But... it doesn't include Peloponnese (South Greece) ;-(

Thanks for that Markus.

Ooops... I was too quick. Yes, there is a weather station in
Peloponnese: Methoni. It's in the southern tip of the peninsula. It's
better than nothing.

Thanks

Hi Nikos,

if you mean historical really historical - there's a database of historical climate sources (www.hisklid.de). Because its records are starting somewhen in the middle age there are no instrument data available. Would be a nice project to "georeference" the spatial terminology used to make it somehow GISable.
