[GRASS-user] osgeo4w-64bit (with winGRASS-64bit) - testing welcome

from the osgeo4w-ML, please test also winGRASS6.4.3-64bit

____________________

Hi there,

I've prepared a 64bit build of major parts of OSGeo4W.

My main focus was QGIS (1.8 and master), but it also has all of it's
numerous
dependencies including current versions of GRASS 6.4 (w/o Tk), GEOS, PROJ.4,
Qt, python, GDAL (including plugins for Oracle, ECW, MrSID and FileGDB
support)
and more.

The installer is available at http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ (marked as
Experimental 64bit [1]).

Please test and report.

Jürgen

Ver nice and thanks for the efforts to Juergen et al.

It seems that the 32bit OSGeo4W needs to be removed first (right?).

After installation, GRASS GIS 6.4.3 64bit crashes with error 0cx000007b.

I notice that it uses C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe to fire up GRASS 64bit,
perhaps that's the reason?

Best

Right, don't mix the installs. You can install both, but not to the same
directory - new installer has also an option to specify different start menu
names so that the menu entries of multiple install don't overwrite each other.

On 64bit windows that's the 64bit cmd - the 32bit cmd is in syswow64.

your box: windows 8-64bit?

somewhere a 32bit/64bit-mixup or a ms runtime issue?

I get the same error on Windows 8 64-bit when starting grass.
I uninstalled the old osgeo4w (32bit) and removed the folder in C:\
before installing the 64-bit version.
